Northside Economic Opportunity Network (NEON)
Since 2006, NEON has been instrumental in building wealth for low-to-moderate income entrepreneurs in North Minneapolis. By offering free technical support and resources, NEON empowers individuals to launch and sustain businesses, contributing to the economic vitality of the area. In 2025 alone, NEON disbursed $2.8 million in loans, provided over 6,000 hours of technical assistance, and supported the launch of 137 new businesses.
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center
For over a century, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has been a cornerstone in North Minneapolis, offering programs that nurture the development of mind, body, spirit, family, and community. Their HOPE Restorative Programs focus on restoring balance in families through intervention, support, and trauma-informed care, aiming to help individuals not just survive but thrive.
Grapevine Collective
Operating the New City Center, a volunteer-run community hub, the Grapevine Collective supports mutual aid projects and survival programs in South Minneapolis. Their mission is to create a cooperative ecosystem of healing justice projects, fostering solidarity, wholeness, and resilience within the community.
Homegrown Minneapolis
This citywide initiative expands the community’s capacity to grow and share healthy, sustainable, and locally-grown food. Homegrown Minneapolis offers garden leases, supports farmers markets, and provides resources for boulevard gardening, enhancing residents’ access to nutritious food and promoting urban agriculture.
Whittier Alliance
Serving the Whittier neighborhood since 1977, the Whittier Alliance connects residents with services, organizes community events, and supports small business initiatives. As one of the 70 neighborhood organizations officially recognized by the City of Minneapolis, they play a vital role in building community cohesion and addressing local concerns.
