By offering free technical support, training workshops, and co-working spaces, NEON empowers individuals to launch and sustain businesses, contributing to the area’s economic vitality. In 2025 alone, NEON disbursed $2.8 million in loans, provided over 6,000 hours of technical assistance, and supported the launch of 137 new businesses.
Grapevine Collective
Operating the New City Center in South Minneapolis, the Grapevine Collective creates a cooperative ecosystem of healing justice projects. This volunteer-run community center hosts mutual aid initiatives, organizing efforts, and healing communities, aiming to cultivate solidarity and resilience within the neighborhood.
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center
For over a century, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has been a cornerstone in North Minneapolis, providing services and programs to support the development of mind, body, spirit, family, and community. Their HOPE Restorative Programs focus on restoring balance in families through intervention, support, and trauma-informed care, helping individuals build skills to thrive.
Whittier Alliance
Serving the Whittier neighborhood, the Whittier Alliance connects residents with services, government, and each other. They organize free community events, address housing issues, administer grant programs, and support small business initiatives, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
East Phillips Neighborhood Institute (EPNI)
After a decade of organizing, EPNI is set to transform the Roof Depot warehouse into a community hub and indoor urban farm. This project represents a significant environmental justice victory, aiming to provide sustainable resources and opportunities for the East Phillips community.
Homegrown Minneapolis
Homegrown Minneapolis is a citywide initiative increasing residents’ access to healthy, sustainable, and locally-grown food. Through community gardens, farmers markets, and food shelves, they work to ensure all Minneapolis residents have access to nutritious food options.
